Research Assistant [United Arab Emirates]


 

The College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in the area of Finance or Financial Economics. Requirements: - We welcome applications from all candidates who have an interest in working on research projects that are applied/empirical in nature. - Advanced academic writing skills and ability to effectively communicate in English. - Strong foundation and familiarity with Finance or Financial Economics are welcomed. In particular, areas of financial contagion, risk transmission, connectedness, and portfolio analysis. - Good command and knowledge of R software is essential. Familiarity or working knowledge of other software such as Matlab, and Eviews is a plus. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a high degree of competence and professionalism in data collection, management, and applied quantitative skills. Tasks: the ideal candidate will possess the ability to provide high-quality background research assistance for projects that include but are not limited to the following tasks: - Perform systematic data collection, stacking, and filtering. - Write literature reviews by summarizing key journal articles and relevant reports from multilateral organizations. - Undertake coding, data management, and data analysis. Highly motivated applicants with suitable experience fitting the above-mentioned criteria are welcome to apply for the position. Those with advanced undergraduate or a Master's degree in Finance/Economics with a strong technical background and critical writing skills are invited to submit their applications for the position.

Minimum Qualification
BSc Degree in Finance/Economics or a closely related field from an internationally recognized university with a keen interest in advanced research skills.

Preferred Qualification
1. Master’s degree in Finance with a strong research background.
2. High moral values and ethics, professionalism, and positive attitude.
3. Advanced academic writing and demonstrated critical writing skills (work portfolio of project reports may be requested).
4. Willingness to grow exponentially by learning new analytical software, and research skills, with a genuine interest in empirical analysis.
4. Knowledge and application of topics in Financial Econometrics, either by education or through work experience.
7. Advanced knowledge/experience with MS Office.
