At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
Reporting to the Business Support Manager and as part of the Business Support team, you will never have two days that are the same. Use your exceptional administration and customer service skills to support our Tai Tokerau Region to make a real difference in children and young people's lives.
As a Senior Support Officer, you will bring with you a positive and collaborative approach, and a desire to learn and challenge the status quo, to enrich our Business Support team.

Mōhou ake | About you
To be successful in this role you will work collaboratively with managers and staff by providing quality, efficient administrative support to enable frontline staff to focus on the needs of learners. You will demonstrate integrity in all interactions, with a proven track record of excellent customer service. You will demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships across a diverse range of customers, always showing initiative and a high degree of professional independence.

You will also demonstrate:
  • excellent customer service skills and frontline experience
  • a collaborative and positive team approach
  • a professional telephone manner
  • intermediate to advanced Microsoft suite skills
  • proven time management skills
  • attention to detail
  • the ability to work well under pressure
  • flexibility and a desire to learn, and
  • a positive can-do attitude.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
A full New Zealand driver licence is required.

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

Te Mahau | Te Tai Raro (North) is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services, such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
We act as a collective to provide Te Tāhuhu with real-time understanding and insight of education needs and services. We have a critical role to play in feeding this information into the wider organisation and in shaping work that is delivered so that it is relevant to local need.
